Dow Chemical Reviewing Cost Cuts

Dow Chemical says it is reviewing options to cut costs “focusing efforts on aspects of its business that are in its control, including proactively looking at all options to reduce costs and eliminate or defer capital spending at all locations.”

Decisions will vary by business, location and site, the company said in a statement late last week. No final decisions have been made, the company adds.

"The global economy is now feeling the full effects of the same economic issues that have plagued the U.S., resulting in a drop in demand not only in the U.S., but around the world," says Dow chairman and CEO Andrew N. Liveris. "We are going to take necessary, bold and proactive measures to manage our transformation through these extremely challenging times."
