Dow Appoints New Country Manager For Malaysia

(Bernama) - The Dow Chemical Company, the specialty chemicals and advanced materials company, has appointed James Thong as Country Manager for Malaysia.

Thong, previously Regional Commercial Manager for Dow Coating Materials, will focus on new growth opportunities for Dow's business in Malaysia.

He would also look after the expansion of its polyurethanes business in Southeast Asia, in his concurrent commercial role as Polyurethanes Sales Manager for Southeast Asia, according to a company statement Thursday.

Thong, who holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) degree in Analytical Chemistry from USM began his career with Union Carbide Chemicals in 1993 and joined Dow in 2001.

In 2006, he was named Regional Commercial Manager for the ANGUS Chemical Company for Asia Pacific, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Dow Chemical Company and Dow Biocides, a business group of The Dow Chemical Company.

Thong will report his country manager responsibilities to the recently appointed Dow's South East Asia and India/Pakistan regional President Vipul Shah who is based here.

Commenting on the appointment, Vipul was confident Thong would play a key role in further strengthening Dow's presence and seek new growth opportunities in Malaysia given his expertise.
